Sequence Memory

Opening the stone collection…

How to Play And tips and tricks and fun stuff!

Remember the stones. Follow their light.

  1. Watch the lights

The stones glow one at a time. Remember their order.

  2. Tap it back

When you see Your turn, tap the same stones in the same order.

  3. A little further

Remember a longer pattern each round. Reach memory milestones to unlock more stones.

Give the pattern a shape in your mind. There is no hurry when it is your turn.

Rules & scoring

The goal

Watch a pattern of glowing stones, then repeat it in order. Each stone keeps its shape, position and note. Sound is optional, and your answer has no time limit.

The rules

  1. Memory test: the default mode. Start with two stones and a one-step pattern. Each success brings a fresh random pattern that is one step longer. The first wrong tap ends the test. Your score is the longest pattern you fully remembered, not the total taps.
  2. Unlock boards: recall four steps on First echoes to unlock four stones. Each board shows its own goal for the next arrangement. Unlocks are saved as soon as you meet the goal. Explore the new board straight away or keep going for a higher score. A later mistake never removes an unlock.
  3. Endless: choose any unlocked board. The same pattern grows by one step after every success, starting at one step. Your first wrong tap ends the run.

A wrong tap briefly reveals the stone you missed before showing your result. There is no penalty for taking time to think.

Memory test keeps personal bests, the last 20 finished tests and their median for each board and pace separately. Switching to a new run banks the last length you completed. These are personal game scores. They are not population rankings or medical measures.

Controls

Keyboard

Tab to a stone. Left/Right and Up/Down move through the stones; a number appears on keyboard focus; Home/End go to the first/last. Enter or Space taps the focused stone. Escape closes a panel.

Touch and mouse

Press the play icon in the center, then tap a stone when it is your turn. Modes opens Memory test, Endless and the unlocked boards. How to play brings these instructions back. The menu pauses play. Sound on/off shares the site’s sound setting. Settings offers a slower playback pace for new runs.

Tips & questions

Tips

  • Picture a little route between the stones.
  • A stone may glow twice in a row; each glow is a separate step.
  • Endless repeats the same beginning. Give your attention to its new final step.

Questions

Does pausing lose my pattern? No. Accepted taps stay saved. An interrupted demonstration starts again; an answer already in progress resumes without showing the pattern again.

What unlocks the next board? Fully recall the number of steps shown beside the board. You can reach the goal on either playback pace; later mistakes do not remove an unlocked board.
