Quirkseed

Preparing a little room to grow…

How to Play And tips and tricks and fun stuff!

Small answers. Wild possibilities.

  1. Type an answer

Each question has many right answers. Keep guessing for 25 seconds until one is correct.

  2. Go unusual

Rarer accepted answers score more: 5 for Common, up to 50 for Extraordinary.

  3. Grow the vine

Every question adds a level to your vine. Rarer answers grow bigger blooms.

Think of two or three answers, then plant the least obvious one you are sure of.

Rules & scoring

The goal

Answer eight questions and grow your own climbing vine. Each question has many correct answers. Choose an unusual one to earn more points. A perfect collection is 400 points.

The rules

  1. Keep guessing until one is correct. You have 25 seconds of active play per question. Type an answer and select Plant, or press Enter. An incorrect guess says “Not a correct answer” and leaves the clock running. A correct answer ends the round.
  2. At zero, your draft is checked once. An empty or incorrect draft scores zero. You can also select Pass early with an empty field.
  3. Rarity makes the difference. Common answers earn 5 points, Uncommon 10, Unusual 20, Rare 30, Remarkable 40, and Extraordinary 50. These are fixed editorial estimates of familiarity within each question, not live player percentages. Speed earns no bonus.
  4. Watch something grow. Every completed question adds a level to your vine. Accepted answers grow leaves, buds or flowers according to their tier. A zero still grows a little shoot. On a phone, the vine steps aside while you answer and grows its new level when the answer is revealed.
  5. Discover, then continue. Each reveal shows your points and explains the result, and lets you explore the complete accepted list and its source. Select Next question when you are ready; there is no timer on the reveal.
  6. Keep your garden. After eight rounds, see your score and answer breakdown and share a spoiler-free row of botanical symbols. Both high and low scores can be shared.

Small spelling mistakes may offer Did you mean…? Select the Use “…” button naming the suggested answer to confirm, or keep typing. The timer continues; an unconfirmed suggestion never scores automatically. Accepted alternate names score immediately. The reveal keeps your name and shows the canonical name underneath—for example, “guanabana” and “Also known as Soursop”.

Controls

Keyboard

Tab moves between controls. Type in the answer field and press Enter to submit. After a reveal, press Enter again for the next question, or Tab to Next question. Escape closes menus and panels. No mouse is required.

Ways to play

Collections

Daily garden: Everyone playing the same local calendar date gets the same eight questions, answer lists and scores. You have one attempt that day. Your date stays fixed if midnight passes while you play. Returning to the daily resumes it or shows the completed garden.

Unlimited: Eight questions from the whole collection. Themed collections: Eight from Geography, Science & nature, History & culture, or Arts & entertainment. Practice avoids today’s daily questions until you finish that daily. The current playing deck has 40 questions, ten per theme, so questions repeat over time. Eligible unseen questions are used before the next repeat cycle. Starting new practice replaces unfinished practice; your daily garden stays saved separately.

Settings and saving

Relaxed play in Settings removes the timer. It keeps separate score records. Switching a collection to relaxed play is permanent for that collection; turning the setting off affects the next one. Both timed and relaxed daily completions count toward your streak.

Menus, help, sharing and hidden tabs pause the timer. The question is hidden while paused. Reloading asks you to resume before time starts again. Your current question, draft, completed answers and statistics save on this device. This is a casual, honor-system game with no public leaderboard. Optional accounts add cloud saves when available.

Choose Herbarium, Night garden, or Match site for the palette. Sound and haptics use the shared game settings. Reduced-motion preferences are respected.

Previously started gardens retain their original questions; new gardens use the more approachable deck.

If you played the earlier seven-question version, your saved garden gains one extra question. Your existing answers stay and use the new scoring scale. Earlier score records remain separate in Statistics, and earned streaks are kept.

Tips & questions

Tips

  • Read the small scope note: dates, editions and category boundaries matter.
  • Think of two or three answers, then choose the least obvious one you are confident about.
  • Be specific with names. “Bush” is ambiguous; “George W. Bush” identifies one president.
  • Accents, capitalization and listed spelling variants do not change your score. Close misspellings can offer a confirmation button. Ambiguous names need more detail; a list of guesses is not accepted.
  • The answer list is part of the fun. A missed question can teach you a new seed for next time.

Questions

How are answers checked? Against a sourced, versioned list downloaded before play. Names and aliases receive the same precomputed score. There is no live AI judge and no runtime AI fee.

Does “Not a correct answer” mean my answer is false? Not necessarily. It means the answer did not match this question’s scoped list or aliases. Broad categories use curated lists, which may not include every valid example. You can keep guessing while time remains. Check the complete list and source after the reveal. Questions and scores stay frozen within a published daily version; corrections go into future content versions. Send a suspected omission to support@goldensun.fun with the question and your answer.

Do I need an account or a connection? No account or backend connection is needed to play. The page and question file must load first; a loaded collection can then finish without a connection. If the question download fails, the timer waits and you can retry.

What is a streak? Consecutive local dates on which you complete all eight daily questions, including relaxed play. The statistics panel also keeps your longest streak and separate best and average scores for daily, practice, timed and relaxed collections.
